Joseph also explains how Herod felt threatened by the presence of the Magi and, having gotten wind of their purpose, decided to kill all born males in the land in a bid to prevent any displacement from a new king whom the Magis came to honor and pay homage to. Interestingly, Joseph clarifies the concept of the Star that guided the Magi to Jesus, and how they rejoiced upon sighting the star because of its rare significance.
More interestingly, we learn that Jesus was two years old when the Magi visited him. The fact remains that the star was a supernatural manifestation that guided the Magi. As astrologers, they knew how to read the sky and were aware of prophecies about the coming of the king of the world as prophesied by Daniel. In conclusion, Joseph assures us that God wants us to have a significant encounter with Jesus just like the Magis if we open our hearts to receive Him, for God wants us to experience life more abundantly.
