Description:

Join Joseph Z in today’s insightful teaching as he discusses the obstacles to hearing from God and gaining discernment. He explains how to overcome the lust of the flesh and walk in the finished works of Jesus.

Joseph identifies that the main obstacles to hearing from God and gaining discernment are living in the flesh and being carnally minded. He references Romans 8:6-13, which warns us that the carnal mind is hostile to God because it does not submit to the law of God; therefore, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

He also points to Luke 16:19-31, recounting the story of the rich man and Lazarus. Joseph emphasizes that it is God’s word that has the power to convert the heart; no one, even if they rose from the dead, can change people's hearts the way God's word can. He insists that faith, built by God’s word, is essential for salvation, not miracles. He urges us to align our five senses with the written word of God, emphasizing that we are saved by grace through faith.

Joseph further clarifies that discernment is birthed within us when we renew our minds in faith, through the Lord Jesus Christ, and immerse ourselves in God’s word until it influences our senses and every aspect of our lives. He reminds us that a carnal mindset contradicts God's word and cautions against relying on our own strength, which can lead to fruitless toil. He encourages us to break free from that mindset and hold firmly to God’s word in faith to experience breakthroughs in every area of our lives. When we seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness first, everything else will be added unto us.
